Flagler Palm Coast High School

International Baccalaureate (IB) program is located at the Flagler Palm Coast High School. Along with 40 other schools in Florida, this program immerses students in a rigorous course of study during 11th and 12th grades, in which they are able to study in depth subjects of interest to them from the fields of Humanities and Sciences.  At the end of each subject, students may earn college credit if they score high enough on an exam.

In order for FPCHS to be accepted as a school that is able to offer this prestigious diploma, they underwent a challenging study by a program contingent from Geneva, Switzerland, the International Headquarters of the IB program.

Flagler Palm Coast High School won the state title for community problem solving for the 6th consecutive year. FPCHS has earned the International Grand Champions of this Conference twice in the past 6 years and had placed first each year for Community Problem Solving. Matanzas High School

The Flagler Legacy Program was started in August 1997.  The program serves 30 students from Matanzas High School.  Flagler Legacy is a satellite classroom where the high school students participate on a daily basis for four periods.  The goals are for the students to become stewards of the land, to perform better in school, to set long term career goals and to educate students and visitors to the preserve by completing service learning projects to enhance the preserve. To create this unique program, the School Board of Flagler County entered into a partnership with Flagler County Board of Commissioners and St. Johns River Water Management District.  SJRWMD provides assistance through their educational specialist and other experts from their organization.

Flagler County Rotary plays an important role by providing mentors for the students.  They have played a key role in setting up internships for students and providing necessary equipment and materials for the program.  A biological scientist from Whitney Laboratory has also played a key role in developing curriculum.  He enhances the science curriculum by teaching the salt marsh two mornings each week to our students and is a constant resource for the teachers in the program.
