What industries in Florida are experiencing job growth? 

Private education and health services was the only major industry gaining jobs over the year

What is the outlook for Florida’s job market?

• Based on the Florida Economic Estimating Conference held November 3, 2009, the

outlook for the Florida's job market is expected to start improving in the second quarter

of 2010 with slower than average job growth for the year.

• The peak unemployment rate forecast for Florida is 11.4 percent, which was already

exceeded in November 2009 (11.5 percent).

• The forecast expects the unemployment rate to remain above 6 percent through 2018 /

2019.

• Nonagricultural employment is forecasted to increase over the quarter in 2010:2 and

over the year in 2010:3. Long term, employment is forecasted to reach the previous

peak (March 2007) in 2014 / 2015.

• The last Florida Economic Estimating Conference will be held on February 5, 2010.
